How are the credits counted when using the Google Drive Optimization?

ShortPixel's Google Drive Optimization lets you optimize images, PDFs and videos directly from your ShortPixel account, and as with the other ShortPixel products, you just need to have some credits to use it. The counting system is very simple.

1 credit = 1 image or 5 MB

One credit is used every time our Google Drive Optimizer compresses an image or PDF file by at least 5%. If we fail to optimize an image by at least 5%, no credit will be used! :-)

When you optimize a video, one credit is used every 5 MB of the original size of the video.

Note: Video optimization is not yet available.

Example

Suppose you optimize a folder with 10 images, one of which can only be compressed by 3% (a very rare case). You also have 2 videos with a size of 25 MB and 60 MB.

  • 9 images compressed by more than 5%: 9 credits
  • 1 image compressed less than 5%: free
  • Video of 25 MB: 25/5 = 5 credits
  • Video of 60 MB: 60/5 = 12 credits
  • Total credits used: 26 credits

If you don't want to worry about how many credits you are going to use, get the Unlimited plan! For only $9.99/month, you can optimize as many images as you want!
