Do I need to optimize the images before adding them to my website?

If you're planning on using either of our image optimization plugins, ShortPixel Image Optimizer or ShortPixel Adaptive Images, you don't need to optimize the images before uploading them to your website using tools like Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or JpegReducer. You can just upload them to your website and then the ShortPixel plugins will take care of optimizing the images.

Please note, though, that if you're uploading large images and you plan on using ShortPixel Adaptive Images then we strongly advise you to use a free plugin like Resize Images After Upload (also supported by ShortPixel) to have your original images automatically resized. This way you'll save a lot of disk space and also traffic and CPU resources.
