Does ShortPixel offer support for "next-gen" formats like JPEG 2000 or JPEG XR?

Google's Lighthouse suggests website owners to start using on their websites image formats like JPEG 2000 or JPEG XR.

We considered offering these formats for ShortPixel as well but currently there are no active plans for this because:

  1. currently, according to the market share for browsers supporting JPEG 2000 and JPEG XR is 13% and 4% respectively.
  2. our initial tests didn't show any significant visual improvement while the size of the resulting JPEG 2000/XR image was considerably larger.
Considering these we believe that it is much better, for now, to just use the normal JPEG format as it is 100% supported by all browsers while the images being smaller.
