{"id":717,"date":"2024-05-07T11:42:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T11:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kb.shortpixel.com\/docs\/remove-all-the-shortpixel-related-data-on-a-wp-website\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T08:46:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T08:46:07","password":"","slug":"remove-all-the-shortpixel-related-data-on-a-wp-website","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/kb.shortpixel.com\/knowledge-base\/article\/remove-all-the-shortpixel-related-data-on-a-wp-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Remove all the ShortPixel related data on a WordPress website"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Version 5 or higher<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have used ShortPixel Image Optimizer on your website and want to <strong>remove all the data<\/strong> associated with it, you need to do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>(<strong>Optional<\/strong>) Only if you want to restore your original images, go to <em>Settings <\/em>> <em>ShortPixel <\/em>> <em>Tools<\/em>, click on &#8220;<strong>Bulk Restore<\/strong>&#8221; and follow the instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/shortpixel.com\/knowledge-base\/article\/how-to-remove-the-backed-up-images-in-wordpress\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Remove the ShortPixel backup<\/a> folder located at <code>\/wp-content\/uploads\/ShortpixelBackups\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <em>Settings <\/em>> <em>ShortPixel <\/em>> <em>Tools<\/em>, click on &#8220;<strong>Remove all ShortPixel Data<\/strong>&#8221; and follow the instructions.<br><figure><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 597px;\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.shortpixel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/file-GbT5jH5yF4.jpg\"><\/figure><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the <code>shortpixel_meta<\/code> and <code>shortpixel_folders<\/code> tables from the database (if found). These tables contain your Custom media folders settings (<em>Settings <\/em>> <em>ShortPixel <\/em>> <em>Processing<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the plugin from the Plugins screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Version 4.22.10 or lower<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"callout-yellow\">The steps below are only valid if you are using an old version of ShortPixel Image Optimizer (&lt;= 4.22.10)<\/section>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>(<strong>Optional<\/strong>) Before deactivating the plugin, go to <em>Media <\/em>> <em>Bulk ShortPixel<\/em>, click on &#8220;<strong>Bulk Restore Images<\/strong>&#8221; to restore your optimized images to the originals, and follow the instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before deactivating the plugin, go to <em>Media <\/em>>\u00a0<em>Bulk ShortPixel,\u00a0<\/em>click on &#8220;<strong>Bulk Delete SP Metadata<\/strong>&#8221; and follow the instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/shortpixel.com\/knowledge-base\/article\/how-to-remove-the-backed-up-images-in-wordpress\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Remove the ShortPixel backup<\/a> folder located at\u00a0<code>\/wp-content\/uploads\/ShortpixelBackups\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deactivate and uninstall the ShortPixel Image Optimizer plugin. Make sure that you <strong>uncheck<\/strong>\u00a0the option &#8220;<em>Keep the ShortPixel settings on plugin deletion<\/em>&#8220;.<br><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.shortpixel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/file-BUg0A7WNV1.jpg\"><\/figure><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><p>Remove the\u00a0<code>shortpixel_meta<\/code><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<code>shortpixel_folders<\/code><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>tables from the database (if found).
